Over a period of time Selly Park Property Owners Association has been actively involved in traffic/ speeding / car parking issues within Selly Park. Several years ago, we were instrumental in canvassing for traffic calming speed humps and cushions.  More recently these measures are frequently ineffective and often ignored. Despite our best efforts to work with the police and our councillors we have been unable to improve this situation.

Just over a year ago SPPOA organised a walk about with our councillors, the Highways Department and a representative from Amey. We pointed out many of our grave concerns and although we have yet to see much progress, I can report one positive outcome.  At the roundabout by St Stephens church and the junction of Selly Avenue and Selly Park Road we now have dropped curbs in place. This will be of particular benefit for pushchair and wheelchair users, mobility scooters, pedestrians and cyclists.

SPPOA is presently unable to allocate enough time to fight the increasing traffic issues especially speeding and car parking. It is obvious to everyone that we have a major problem with increasing car parking problems throughout Selly Park. At the SPPOA AGM in November we announced that John Gale has agreed to lead a group dedicated to tackling all of the traffic issues in the Selly Park area. This group is very appropriately called SELLY CAR PARK. John would be very happy to hear from anyone wishing to join this group. Contact membership@sellypark.co.uk and we will pass on your details.
