Membership
The Selly Park Property Owners’ Association was founded in 1911, primarily to defend the restrictive covenants which apply to properties within the old Selly Hill and Selly Hall Estates, and to defend its members’ interests in other matters relating to their residence in this area.
The SPPOA continues today with essentially the same aims of defending the covenants and the Conservation area status, both of which prevent over-intensive development, and encouraging anything that enhances the pleasant residential environment of Selly Park. All members benefit from the work of the committee and individual members to further these aims.
Your support is essential – not least to provide a fighting fund for any future legal action that might be needed to defend the covenants and thus Selly Park. And we have noticed that, increasingly, both Local and Central Government, when seeking the views of the public, are consulting local organisations. By attending Ward Committee meetings, and developing links with other groups, we endeavour to be in a position to give our members a voice.
